Call 112 for all emergencies

Information on poison: 08-33 12 31.

General Telephone Usage

All calls made in Sweden are billed. There is no such thing as free or unlimited calling in your area code, with the exception of emergency and 020 numbers. Every day after
6 p.m. and during weekends, charges for calls in Sweden are 50% of the standard rates.

  • Telephone cards are loaded with 30, 60 or 120 units. The cards can be bought in all Telia shops, in Pressbyrån, tobacco shops, as well as other stores. Public telephones and Telephone booths take telephone cards. Most of them also take major credit cards.

  • Telia is the largest phone company in Sweden. Visit www.telia.se or call 90 200 for customer service.

  • Information: 118 118. You must pay a fee. You can try the online yellow pages (gulasidorna) for free.

  • Foreign Information (outside of Sweden): 118 119. You must pay a fee.

  • Numbers in different communities begin with a different code (i.e., Stockholm is 08).

  • Mobile telephone numbers begin with 07. The caller also pays extra to call these numbers. Remember that calling from a mobile phone to a number in Stockholm requires you to dial 08 first, even if you and your mobile phone are in Stockholm when making the call.

  • Always dial the International Dialing Code 00 first when dialing direct out of the country. For U.S. dial 001+ area code and number. Link to AT&T's Country and City Codes Listing

  • Remember that your phone calls will be billed once every two months and that calls are not itemized. If you want an itemized bill, you must request and pay for that service.

  • For other telephone information, International or Domestic, consult the telephone book.
